Last night we dined at Same Same Thai restaurant. From the service, to the food, our overall verdict was outstanding!!
We had the most amazing waitress, Jade. She took the time to tell us about each dish and the story of Same Same. The restaurant has been owned by cousins Annie and Katy for 14 years. They partnered with operations group Last Word Hospitality and thus, the Thai food and wine bar was born. The name "Same Same" originated in Thailand and means very similar.... but different.
We started our meal of with Pa Pai Sod (Fresh Spring Rolls). They were very similar to your ordinary spring roll, but not fried and we loved them.
Next came Peek Gai Tod (Fried Chicken Wings). These were just absolutely delicious and crispy. What's different about their chicken wings, is they pull them apart so there is only one bone... made easier for your eating pleasure of course. ** Side note ** the chef made us this incredible in house green sauce to dip the wings in called, P'leck sauce. It gave the wings a perfect kick.
We were dying to try the appetizer, Nua Kem (Thai Beef Jerky), but for picture purposes we went with the Khao Pad Nua Kem (Beef Jerky Fried Rice). The beef is cooked and then deep fried so it gets that delicious crispy exterior. Throw that in some fried rice and we call that a bowl of heaven.
The best part of the meal came all at once, like Christmas morning.
(Left)- Side Walk Pad Thai (substituted the dried shrimp with fresh shrimp). This dish is a very traditional Pad Thai dish and it did not disappoint.
(Right)- Pad See Mao (Drunken Noodle with Beef). No one knows exactly where this dish got its name, but rumor has it, it is either a great hangover food, or it is a popular dish eaten while drinking. We like both.
(Bottom)- Khao Soi (Noodle dish with coconut). This dish may have been our favorite. The noodles were amazing and the coconut really just gave it an amazing taste. This dish cam from Chang Man, the Northwestern part of Thailand. You can find it at street vendor carts.
Did we mention how amazing our waitress Jade was?? When you head in, make sure you ask for her. She'll make sure you're taken care of. We sure can't wait to go back in.
Below are a couple more fun photos we got while enjoying our time at this fabulous joint.
